Kindergarten Turtles: October 17 - 20, 2023

Greetings, Turtle Families,

The mornings were quite chilly last week; thank you for sending your children in layers. We sent the change of clothes bags home last week so that the summer clothes can be changed out for fall clothes.  If you have not sent your child’s change of clothes bag back to school, please do.  To help us keep warm each morning, we share a different tea each day.  The children enjoy trying new flavors (Apple Cinnamon, Lemon Myrtle, Autumn Spice, Strawberry Hibiscus, and Peppermint). Sharing food and drink together is a bonding experience, and it is nice to see them gather around the teapot as they chat and refill their cups.

The children finished sewing their leaves and stems onto their felted apples and took them home last week. Each apple was unique and beautiful, and they were proud of their efforts.  Those students who have mastered finger chaining are now learning how to finger knit, so you may see finger-knitted creations coming home over the following weeks.

In the forest, raking leaves has been a favorite activity.  They rake them into piles and jump in those piles; they clear paths and fill the tires with leaves and pine straw to make nests. Fall leaves provide the loose parts for many creative endeavors. We invited the Honeybee class over on Tuesday afternoon to share in our leaf play. It is lovely to see the Turtles share their classroom and play with the Honeybees. It is always fun to play with new friends.

Thank you for attending and volunteering at Kingdom of Halloween. It was so nice to work with the Turtle Families to make this wonderful festival a reality for the children.  We hope you all had fun.  It was a magical night!
