Hello Second Grade Families,

Last week was busy, we read a story about a mouse named “Jumping Mouse.” We added words to our word bank from these stories and then used those words to create and write sentences. We also wrote words on flashcards and worked with partners to rearrange the cards and create sentences. Additionally, we played bingo with our sight words, worked on upper and lower case letters, and reinforced vowel sounds.

Next week we will hear the story of St. George and the Dragon. This story will provide opportunities for the students to increase their word banks and have more options for writing sentences. New vocabulary will also be added to our word bingo games and give the student more practice with practicing new spelling patterns as they sound out new words. We will also use wax and clay to create figures from the story deepening the students' connections to the images they create when hearing the story.

The students have adjusted well to being back in school, and all did a great job of staying focused for the first full week back together.

Please send your child in with bug spray; the mosquitos are active!
Bring rain gear, including boots, daily! It can be left at school, stored in the shed.
Hard-soled, closed-toe water shoes or old sneakers are required at Creekcess.
Please bring penny whistles to school
