Fourth & Fifth Grade: September 4-8, 2023

Dear Fourth and Fifth-Grade Families,

Thank you for coming to our Fourth and Fifth-Grade Curriculum Night! It was good to meet you in our brand-new forest classroom, experience some of our morning circle activities, and learn about the content the class will cover during the school year. The school year will be exciting as the class will transition through ancient civilizations from ancient India and Mesopotamia to Greece.

This past week, the students were eagerly writing their 3-paragraph animal reports. As each paragraph covered a different topic related to their animal, the students learned to structure the content of their writing. With guidance, the students learned to arrange their sentences in an organized format. They also helped each other with spelling and punctuation. Writing in the first-person perspective from the viewpoint of an animal allowed the students an opportunity for creativity in their writing that they would not have experienced if only listing facts about their animal. Tomorrow, we will look at the students' finished dioramas and their attached animal reports. Then, the class will be off into a new math block, gaining a deeper insight into the world of fractions.

  • Hard-soled, closed-toe water shoes or old sneakers are required at Creekcess.
