Dear Honeybee Families,
We had a lovely week in the Honeybees. We were visited by Ki Holly, the lead teacher from the Chickadee class. The children enjoyed learning new songs for morning Circle, and those previously in her class enjoyed spending time with her again. Thank you, Ki Holly. On Tuesday, the children chopped the vegetables for our soup that we had for snack on Wednesday. The students enjoy the practical work and are very meticulous when chopping. Thank you for continuing to send vegetables with your child on Mondays. On Thursday, we went to visit the farm. The children pet the goats, observed the garden, and explored the farm area. On Friday, the children had fun spending time drawing outside. The class spent the time quietly engaged, and it was a wonderful way to sit and experience nature and creativity. They also enjoyed sharing their work and appreciated seeing the work of their classmates. For another activity, the children wrapped yarn around sticks to make fairy wands and then had fun playing with them in our forest classroom.
Looking ahead to next week, we will be out of school on Monday in celebration of Labor Day and will resume our regular rhythm on Tuesday. Please send a vegetable with your child on Tuesday so we can chop it for our Wednesday soup! On Thursday, we will go to the creek, bringing toys from our mud kitchen to play with as we enjoy this new setting. Our class will also go on a nature walk and collect some of the fallen leaves to use with crayons for rubbings. This will be a new opportunity for the children to incorporate nature into their artwork.
Announcements and Reminders for Honeybee Kindergarten:
• Please send your child with a long-sleeve shirt; the mornings are starting to have a much welcomed chill in the air.
• Please remember that all Joyful Beginnings and Kindergarten classes are nut- free this year. This is to keep all of our students safe. Please do not send nuts or things made from nuts (this includes most granola bars, nut milks, and nut butters). Sun butter (made from sunflower seeds) or Wow butter (made from soy) are helpful substitutes. Thank you for your help protecting our students from serious allergens.
Warmly,
Ki Peden
