Kindergarten Turtles: November 3 - 7, 2025
Greetings, Turtle Families,
The Lantern Walk was magical, and it was so wonderful to have all of the Turtle children and families join us for the evening. We hope that your family experienced a sense of awe as you walked through the candlelit forest and heard the sweet voices singing. Each of the Turtle students has such a bright, vibrant inner light, and it is such a privilege to see them shine as they share who they are with their classmates and teachers.
Our Jack-O-Lantern was beginning to get moldy, so on Tuesday morning, we turned cleanup into a fun class activity. The children took turns using a mallet and shovel to smash the pumpkin into small pieces. There was laughter, teamwork, and lots of excitement. Once the pumpkin was broken down, we loaded it into the wheelbarrow and took turns pushing it to the farm, where we tossed it over the fence for the donkeys and goats—who were absolutely delighted with their autumn feast!
We also had a fascinating show-and-tell this week. Ripley brought her pet snake’s shed skin to share with the class. The children were enthralled as they examined it up close. Together, we talked about snakes, their scales, and the incredible process of shedding skin. Thank you for sharing with us, Ripley!
Another highlight of our week was painting with three colors for the first time this year. As soon as we entered the room, the children noticed the jars of red, blue, and yellow paint. Soon there were joyful exclamations as they mixed colors—creating green, orange, and purple! Our wet-on-wet watercolor painting encourages a deep understanding of color blending. During the painting session, many of the children were focused on mixing the two primary colors in varying proportions to create as many secondary and tertiary colors as possible. As they paint, the children are developing important fine motor skills—holding the brush, moving it gently across the paper, dipping it carefully into the water and paint. After each painting session, the children are responsible for cleaning up their space and materials before going off to play. This simple, important routine builds self-care, independence, and a wonderful sense of will.
