Kindergarten Chickadees: October 20 - 24, 2025

Thank you for attending our all-school meeting and for your ongoing support of our community. Our next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, February 7th, at 12:30 pm.
Last week, students completed their felted apples and brought them home. They also learned how to finger-chain and made the handles for their lanterns. The children have been enjoying crafting and are excited to make their lanterns this week. They have also shown impressive memory and reverence as we practice the lantern walk songs after morning circle each day. Last week, the students walked around our circle singing and pretending to hold lanterns. This week, they will walk through the forest as they sing.
Last Thursday, during mindfulness and nature journaling time, students were asked if they could name something kind or helpful they could do at school or home that day. While examples were given, most students were not able to come up with an answer, which was to be expected since we had not done this before. The class will continue to explore the idea of kindness and what that looks like in action. The children will hear a new story this week that was written for the Lantern Walk season. In this story, a child learns that everyone has a light inside them that can be turned on and shine bright through acts of kindness and respect to people, animals, and nature.
Announcements & Reminders:
Please send your child dressed in layers each day and with a coat, hat, and gloves. Mornings have suddenly turned cold, and these items have often been needed during the first hour or so of the morning.
Cold and flu season is here. Please help keep our class healthy by reminding your child of and practicing handwashing at home (we ask them to sing the ABC or Twinkle Twinkle song while scrubbing with soap), reminding them to use a tissue and avoid putting their hands in their noses and mouths, and by washing their gloves each week. Thank you for helping us all stay healthy!

November 21: Thanksgiving Luncheon at 11 am (All family and students are invited)
November 24 - 28 Thanksgiving Break (No School)
