Kindergarten Honeybees: August 25-29, 2025
Dear Honeybee Families,
Thank you for joining us in our lovely forest classroom for curriculum night. It’s always a joy to share about why we do what we do. We hope this provided you with a clearer picture of our days and rhythm at school.
Last week, we had a puppet play of the Mother Raincloud story, which has been shared since the start of school. The children were eager to help with puppet show preparations, and we even had our own raindrop committee. Students pulled small tufts of blue wool roving and rolled them into raindrops, twisting the ends to make them into a raindrop shape. Other children helped build mother raincloud, fluffing up blue, grey, and white tufts of wool and then combining them together, creating one enormous mother raincloud. Students watched the puppet play with great anticipation when our brave little raindrop hugged the little seed she discovered beneath the earth. The joy of their meeting caused a sprout to emerge, which transformed into a beautiful sunflower. Watching the story happen before them, after days of hearing and visualizing it, nourishes the children’s imaginations and encourages them to create and dream into their own stories.
The children were so glad to finally be able to visit the creek! Students made a construction site where they dug canals and lakes on one side, and explored new parts of the creek where a lush bamboo forest grows. We spotted a tiny salamander, families of fish, and many butterflies coming and going along their way, delighting the children each time they drew near. We also discovered wild strawberries growing along our windy path down to the forest, and a tree that seems to be the gathering place for many hungry caterpillars.
My deep gratitude for the lovely birthday basket gifted to me from my Honeybee families. Thank you for this thoughtful gesture. 💗
