Kindergarten Turtles: September 29 - October 3, 2025
Greetings, Turtle Families,
We had a great week back together! The whole class worked on a special project: shooting stars with rainbow ribbons. The children worked with teachers to tie knots, attaching colorful ribbons to wooden rings. Knot tying is a new skill for many of our kindergartners, and the children worked with focus, exercising their fine motor skills to complete their knots. This project also required scissor skills as each child cut stars from a red and yellow watercolor painting to attach to their ring. When their shooting star was complete, the children ran and played with it, granting wishes throughout the forest.
We continued our dragon story, and on Wednesday, we made pancakes together, just like the dragon and the family in our tale. The children enjoyed following the recipe as we made the batter - measuring, pouring, cracking eggs, and mixing. We topped our pancakes with cloudberry (blueberry) syrup, and just like in the story, we ate every last bite!
We began our new Autumn circle this week, and “Gray Squirrel” quickly became a class favorite.
Gray Squirrel, Gray Squirrel,
Swish your bushy tail,
Gray Squirrel, Gray Squirrel,
Swish your bushy tail.
Climb up the tallest tree,
Let your tail blow in the breeze.
Hide your nuts both near and far,
But don’t forget just where they are.
In the winter, you will need
to find those nuts so you can feed.
On Tuesday, we celebrated Tea’s 5th birthday. Tea’s parents visited our class and shared memories from her birth and each year of her life. Classmates, teachers, and parents shared a wish for the coming year. Happy Birthday, Tea!
I look forward to seeing you all at conferences later this week. Thank you for being a part of our community and sharing your children with us.
