Kindergarten Chickadees: November 17 - 21, 2025
Osiyo, Chickadee Families,
Thank you for taking the time to share community and a meal with us during the Thanksgiving luncheon on the Friday before break. It was a beautiful time of celebration and connection. We hope you all enjoyed a fantastic and restful break.
As the Chickadee class prepares for the annual Winter Spiral festival next week, the class will hear a story about King Winter preparing a feast and warm shelter for the cold and hungry animals of the forest. The class will also learn new songs and verses in the morning circle that remind us that we can all be a light in the dark during this season of the year, and continue discussing ways they can show kindness and things they are thankful for. In Waldorf Early Childhood, the soul focus is on the understanding that the world is good. Helping children see brightness even in dark moments and recognize that they can be good and helpful to others and the world allows them to build resilience, compassion, and self-esteem.
The Chickadees will be engaging in several fun crafts over the next few weeks, such as pomanders, cinnamon stick stars, and candles. The students’ drawing, painting, and nature journaling books will also be sent home the week before the semester break. If you have a winter holiday craft, activity, snack, or story you would like to share with the class in the coming weeks, please let me know, and we will arrange a time for you to visit the class.
Announcements & Reminders:
During the week of December 15th, we are inviting families to read a winter-themed picture book to the class after morning circle. Please feel free to join us for the morning circle, then stay and read a book to the class. No media- or marketed character-themed books, please. You can sign up to read here.
Next week’s tours are designed to meet your questions about the next phase of your child’s development and how the curriculum meets the changes you are starting to see now. A Kindergarten tour and a Grades tour will be offered on Wednesday, December 10th, at 9:30 am and Saturday, December 13th, at 10:00 am. These tours are for our current families to learn more about the respective programs. Please RSVP by emailing Crystal: admissions@thegardenmarietta.org.
