Second & Third Grade: January 13 - 17, 2025
Hello, Second and Third Grade Families,
Last week, the children returned to school with just enough snow remaining on the ground to enjoy the winter weather with their friends. Several children spent time cracking the ice that had formed behind our platform and pretended to go ice fishing. Others attempted to build a snowman, and everyone ended playtime in an impromptu snowball fight.
In Main Lesson, the children have been learning about nouns. The children learned that a noun is a person, place, thing, or animal, and they spent time identifying nouns in sentences. The children are all creating a book about nouns that should be finished this week. This week, we will begin learning about verbs and adjectives. These lessons were accompanied by the stories of Cain and Abel, Noah and the Flood, and the Tower of Babel. The children had a special lesson about Martin Luther King Jr. on Friday. This was added to their Noble People book.
On Friday, we celebrated Victoria’s ninth birthday. We played a game where we each got to say our favorite thing about Victoria and ask her one question. We hope that Victoria had a very happy birthday!
We look forward to seeing you all at our Spring Grades Curriculum night on Wednesday, January 22nd, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. We will start the night with a short meeting to brainstorm ideas for our Hope Blooms class auction project. Following this, you are all invited to visit with our Specialty teachers to learn more about each class. We look forward to your support and attendance.
