Kindergarten Turtles: February 3 - 7, 2025

Greetings, Turtle Families,

It was so nice to meet with you all for conferences. It is such a pleasure to spend our days with your children in our beautiful forest classroom, and it was wonderful to share with you all what they are doing and learning at school.

The children spent the week racing around the forest.  There were many organized races, complete with chalk-drawn start and finish lines. We have also had many “birds” flying around the forest. The children take great time and care building their nests and homes and then fly around the classroom, returning to their nests when they need a rest.  The chalk has also been used to beautify the forest, we have colorful trees and lumber throughout our classroom.  Some of the lumber has been transformed into a fairy house, a piano, a security camera, whatever they need for their play.  It is so nice to watch them create and imagine new things with the supplies they have had all year.

The Barred owl, who visited our class at the end of last year and all of the first semester,  had not been seen since before the December break. It returned this week, and we were all so happy to see it.  We were worrying about him, so it was so nice to have him spend the whole day with us on Tuesday this week. What a magical memory this will be from a childhood in the forest!

On Thursday, we were invited to watch performances by the Grade students in Mandarin. The Grade students worked very hard to prepare a show about the Chinese New Year, the year of the snake. Our class watched with rapt attention and enjoyed a puppet show, singing, and dancing. It is always so nice for our students to spend time with the older students, and they all enjoyed the performance.

Wishing you all a fun Mid-Winter break!
