Fourth & Fifth Grade: January 21 - 24, 2025
Dear Fourth and Fifth Grade Parents,
This past week was a bit unusual with the unexpected weather closure, but we’ve made the most of our time together in class! In math, we continued our journey through fractions, building on the foundational skills of division and multiplication as we explored real-life applications. The students are gaining confidence as they deepen their understanding of this important concept.
In Language Arts, we tied grammar lessons to our exploration of Indigenous history and legends. This week, we focused on the Sioux, immersing ourselves in their rich storytelling tradition and cultural insights. The legends not only captivated the students’ imaginations but also provided meaningful context for our grammar work, reinforcing language skills in a holistic way.
Looking ahead to next week, we will begin an exciting new Main Lesson block on ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt. In Waldorf education, these studies allow students to connect deeply with the origins of civilization and humanity’s early innovations. Through storytelling, artistic expression, and hands-on projects, we will explore the cultural achievements, myths, and daily life of these ancient peoples. This block fosters a sense of wonder about history and humanity's shared journey while providing opportunities to engage in creative work that integrates academic and artistic learning.
