Second & Third Grade: April 21-25, 2025
Hello Second and Third Grade Families,
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the Hope Blooms Auction. Our project raised $360! The children should especially be proud of how hard they worked to make their poems beautiful. All of the students put their best effort into their work, and their perseverance made a beautiful project. A special thank you to Katie Pruitt-Smith and Dana Akers for their support as our auction rep and woodworking expert!
Last week, the children continued their shelters projects. Each child spent time brainstorming ideas with their peers before getting deep into their work. Hugo spent time collecting bamboo in the forest, which he is using to build a stilt house. Victoria has been hard at work creating her Takienta out of plaster and clay. Remy and Snow practiced woodworking with Ki Heidi to build a longhouse. Lily spent time creating a beautiful blue ocean out of gems for her houseboat. Ivy has been scavenging for resources to use as the outside of her tipi. Valentina built three-dimensional hills and buildings from cardboard and clay for her earth house, and Stella, Sammy, and Alma made our classroom smell wonderful with their marshmallow igloo, graham cracker adobe, and pretzel log cabin. The children are excited to share their projects with you tomorrow morning at 10:00.
This week, we are also beginning rehearsals for our class play, Little Peachling. The children have all received roles for the play, and they are hard at work learning lines and songs. They are also working on props such as a large papier mache peach and a rolling ocean scene on butcher paper. Our class play will be held on May 13 at 5:30 PM.
