Second & Third Grade: April 28 - May 2, 2025
Hello Second and Third Grade Families,
Thank you to all of the parents who were able to attend the shelter's presentations last Wednesday. In addition to collaborating with their peers to create their shelters, each child spent time reading, writing, and speaking about their shelters in class. On Wednesday, the children were visited by class parents and also the First, Fourth, and Fifth grade students to discuss their shelters and answer questions. The children worked hard to achieve their visions, and they can be so proud of what they were able to accomplish!
Last week, the students were excited to fully embrace their class play. On Thursday, we spent the morning acting as ogres as they stomped and snorted through the platform. Friday, the children did their first full run through the play, and several are already reciting their lines by memory. The class also staged the battle scene, created sound effects, and painted an ocean as a collaborative art piece. Everyone is hard at work memorizing lines, and they are creating a book to accompany the play. Please continue to practice the play at home with your child. This will increase their confidence for their performance on May 13.
You are also encouraged to practice the songs from our play with your child at home. We are singing My Land Is a Good Land, Bird Song, and Now Let’s Dance. These songs were sent in an email last week. We also still have costumes that need to be made. If you would like to volunteer to help, our sign-up is here: The Garden School - Ki Meredith: Class Play
