Kindergarten Chickadees: May 12-16, 2025
Osiyo, Chickadee Families,
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a beautiful teacher appreciation week! We felt the love of our class and community. We are so thankful that you entrust us with the most precious gifts, your children, each week.
Last week, the Chickadee class was busy building and engaging in deep, imaginative play. The children spent several days making, refining, and playing with a large boat made from wood pieces. There were several imaginary storms, rough seas, and rescue missions. Students made a few different types of gnome and fairy houses, and the gnomes and fairies decorated their homes, visited each other, and played together in the sandbox. During the rainy days, the children found great joy in the mud, making mud balls and nature stew. They found creative ways to capture as much rainwater as possible for cooking in the mud kitchen and making deeper puddles and slick mud for scooping and playing. Some students found pieces of chalk and discovered that, when wet, it makes a rich color for painting rocks, wood, and even their hands!
Next week is already the last week of school! We have fun activities and snacks each day. We are also inviting families to sign up to read to the class again, as we did at the end of the first semester. If you would like to stay after drop off and read the class a picture book of your choosing (non-media related, please), you can sign up here. The special activities and snacks will be as follows:
Monday 5/19: Bring a stuffed animal from home, popcorn and homemade lemonade
Tuesday 5/20: Nature clay craft, homemade bread and dandelion jelly
Wednesday 5/21: Field day (12:30 dismissal for all kindergarten), popcicles
Thursday 5/22: Parachute day #2, watermelon
Friday 5/23: Stuffed animal day #2, italian ice
Announcements and Reminders for Chickadee Kindergarten:
Please send your child with insect repellent in their backpacks. The mosquitoes have returned.
5/21: Field Day / Half Day for Kindergarten
5/23: Last Day of School - Full Day
