Kindergarten Honeybees: May 12-16, 2025
Dear Honeybee Families,
Last week, we had days full of animal adventures. Tuesday was probably the most exciting. We watched a rat snake slither from under the Turtle's mud kitchen and crawl up a tree. Students watched off and on for about 30 minutes until she was completely out of sight. Some children said it was the best day ever, and made up names for the snake among themselves. We also saw lizards, another non-venomous snake, a turtle, a frog, and a variety of birds throughout the week. On Thursday, we visited the farm earlier than usual. The students have been asking to hold a chicken as they have seen older students do this. Our Farm Teacher, Ki Heidi, came early to help them learn how to safely pick up a chicken. The students were thrilled.
This week is filled with lots of end of the school year adventures! The students have been excitedly talking about the variety of activities we have planned and the ones we have already had. On Monday, the students brought books from home to be read throughout the week. On Tuesday, we enjoyed our stuffy day. On Wednesday, we have Field Day, and on Thursday, we will have pajama and silly socks day. On Friday, our last day of school, the students will take turns pretending to be the teacher and deciding which of our favorite activities we will do together.
Announcements & Reminders for the Honeybees:
Rest mats, creek shoes, inside shoes, changes of clothing, and other items will be sent home on your child’s last scheduled day of school. If your child will not be here on their last scheduled day, please let us know as soon as possible.
Wednesday, 5/21, is FIELD DAY! On Field Day, we will participate in outdoor games and activities as a class, visit the creek, and enjoy Outshine popsicles provided by the school. If you would prefer your child to enjoy a small snack from home instead, please let me know before field day. Kindergarten will be dismissed at half day today.
Thursday, 5/22, we will wear silly socks and PJs.
Friday, 5/23, the LAST DAY of school and a FULL day, is Teacher For An Hour Day. Students who attend on Fridays will take turns being the teacher for an hour. Students will have a list of activities from which they can choose. Some examples are going to the farm, playground, or playing a game like London Bridge.
Wishing you all a joyful week ahead!
With warmth and gratitude,
Ki Peden
