Kindergarten Chickadees: May 12-16, 2025
Osiyo, Chickadee Families,
Last week, the Chickadees had the opportunity to dig in deep with mud play! There was much excitement as they mixed, built, dug, and used their vast imaginations to create scenarios together in the forest classroom. The combination of rain and sun last week also brought some interesting visitors and other discoveries to our classroom and campus. On Wednesday, students saw a rat snake travelling through our classroom. They carefully watched her from a safe distance so they would not scare her before running off to pretend they were snakes, as well! The children also saw a small toad, a turtle, and some newly blooming flowers on our walks around campus.
Last Wednesday, the Chickadee class held a small ceremony to recognize and celebrate the Golden Knights as they prepare for their next adventure in First Grade. Each student sewed a pouch and vest, and finger-knit a crown during the Golden Knights classes. During the ceremony, the teacher gave each student a Carnelian gemstone to provide them with wisdom and guidance on their journey and shared about each student’s growth and what they were most proud of them for over the past two years they have been Chickadees. Congratulations, Golden Knights!
This week, the students look forward to spending as much time in the creek as possible, listening to guest readers, and enjoying special activities and snacks.
Announcements and Reminders for Chickadee Kindergarten:
Rest mats, creek shoes, inside shoes, changes of clothing, and other items will be sent home on your child’s last scheduled day of school. If your child will not be here on their last scheduled day, please let us know as soon as possible.
