Kindergarten Honeybees: March 3 - 7, 2025
Dear Honeybee Families,
We had such a delightful week as we continued to embrace the early signs of spring! The children have been connecting with each other and immersing themselves in our daily rhythms.
This week, we introduced a new activity: modeling with beeswax. This hands-on experience not only fosters creativity but also enhances fine motor skills. The children thoroughly enjoyed warming the beeswax in their hands to make it pliable, then shaping it into people and flowers. This process also strengthens their hand muscles and promotes patience and imagination.
Our bird feeders have become a hub of activity, attracting various bird species. Observing these feathered visitors has been a source of joy and learning for the children, fostering patience, attention to detail, and a deeper connection to nature.
Looking ahead to next week, we are excited to welcome the new season by starting our Spring Circle. This special time will include seasonal songs and rhymes. The students will be introduced to songs and rhymes that celebrate springtime, fostering language development and a sense of rhythm. Our class will also have some movement games. We will engage in activities like "In and Out the Dusting Bluebells," where children weave in and out of a circle while singing, promoting coordination and group cohesion.
Additionally, we will begin painting wooden bee figures as part of our auction project. This creative endeavor allows the children to contribute to our community event while exploring artistic expression. The Honeybees will continue to spend ample time outdoors, observing the budding flowers and the return of birds, fully embracing the wonders of spring, as well.
Announcements & Reminders for the Honeybees:
Creek Shoes: As the weather warms up, please start returning your child's creek shoes. Ensure that they still fit comfortably to support their adventures.
Weather Preparedness: The weather continues to shift unpredictably. Please send rain gear and dress your child in layers daily. It is always easier to shed a layer than to warm up after getting too cold.
