Kindergarten Honeybees: March 17-21, 2025

Dear Honeybee Families,

We had a cheerful week in the Honeybees class! To welcome spring, we decorated our outdoor classroom by wet felting colorful pieces of wool and rolling them into small balls that resembled flowers. We attached these “flowers” to sticks we found and placed them in a vase to create a spring tree. Additionally, we added various flowers and spring colors around the platform, delighting the children with the seasonal transformation.

On Monday afternoon, after rest time, the students were thrilled to discover gold-painted rocks in the forest — it looked like a leprechaun had paid us a visit!

Looking ahead to next week, we’re excited to keep celebrating the changing seasons. We’ve been telling a story about a ladybug who lives in a pinecone, and we plan to extend this story with a puppet show and a related craft. During a nature walk, the children will collect pinecones, and we will wet felt little ladybugs to attach to them. This hands-on activity helps the children connect the story to a visual and physical experience. Nature crafts also help to connect the children to the environment around them, allow for endless opportunities for creativity, and are fun to make.

Announcements & Reminders for the Honeybees:

Creek Shoes: As the weather warms up, please start returning your child's creek shoes. Ensure that they still fit comfortably to support their adventures.

Weather Preparedness: The weather continues to shift unpredictably. Please send rain gear and dress your child in layers daily. It is always easier to shed a layer than to warm up after getting too cold.
