Second & Third Grade: May 4 - 8, 2026
Hello Second and Third Grade Families,
The end of the year is quickly approaching, but that doesn’t make the students in Second and Third grade any less busy. The class is deeply engaged in building model villages based on different Native American cultures. The students also wrote short reports about the culture, history, and interesting facts related to their chosen culture. If you would like to view the models, please join us for a brief walkthrough on May 15th after the school assembly. The class is excited to show off their work!
In addition to their project work, the students have spent time revisiting work from earlier in the year. They looked through old main lesson books and reflected on each block, including farming, noble people, measurement, fables, Native American stories, and ancient Sumerian stories. The class appreciated the opportunity to review all they have learned this year and reflect on the many ways they have grown.
Next week will be short but busy. On Tuesday, we will hold Field Day, and the class will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of games, races, and activities. Lunch will include popsicles, and the afternoon will be spent at the creek. Wednesday is the last day of school, and we will spend the morning visiting the platforms of other classes to view the work completed by the other grades. This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to see the hard work others have put in this year and to feel proud as their peers view their own work. We will also spend the day enjoying a scavenger hunt, playing games, and celebrating together as a class.
