Kindergarten Turtles: January 6 - 9, 2026

Greetings, Turtle Families,

Welcome back! It was wonderful to have the children back in the forest. They were full of excitement as they played and reconnected with their friends, and we enjoyed a lovely, short week together. Many times, throughout the week, we heard conversations between the children where they expressed how much they missed each other over the long break; they truly love each other. We were also delighted to welcome a new student to the Turtle class – Welcome, Zoe!

The Turtles began a new circle focused on winter weather. Our songs and verses introduce us to King Winter, Jack Frost, busy woods folk, and animals preparing for the cold weather ahead. Although last week was unseasonably warm, we expect true winter weather to return this week.

Before the break, we enjoyed a fun and busy week filled with activities. We put the finishing touches on our wooden deer, and the children were proud to bring them home. Each child decorated a gift bag and tied it with a yarn bow. They worked so hard on this project during the three weeks between Thanksgiving and Winter break -sawing, drilling, and assembling the adorable little deer made from branches and twigs found in our forest. Each deer had its own personality and truly reflected the child who created it. We also shared lots of joyful moments playing games, bringing our stuffed animals to school, making pomanders, and playing music together.

We hope you will join us for our MLK Day of Service on January 19th, a meaningful way to help our community in memory of the life and important work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. There are many ways to participate: You can sign up here to donate specific food items for the lunches, deliver lunches to specified pantry locations, and/or participate in the event at the school. Families and faculty will meet at the school to set up, share a story about Martin Luther King, Jr, make cards, and pack lunches together. We hope to see you there.

Announcements and Reminders:

  • January 31:  Community Work Day
