First Grade: December 9-13, 2024

Dear First Grade Families,

Congratulations to students on completing their first semester of our Grades Program at week's end! It is amazing to think that we are nearly halfway through the school year and almost at the end of 2024. Each child has grown in so many ways; what a journey we are sharing! The children have earned their winter rest, without a doubt.

Last week started off with the fullness of the letter O as well as Tirzah's birthday celebration. The children enjoyed molasses crinkle cookies along with stories and photos of Tirzah's seven years! Painting a wintry sky with the image of sparking snow anchoring the letter O was a joyful experience that led nicely into our Winter Spiral. Thank you for sharing with the class this celebration of light in the darkest month.

This week finds the class completing their Vowels Block and enjoying the season together. On December 6th, the children were surprised to find that the shoes they had left in the hallway during Main Lesson contained oranges when they found them again! Could it have been the soul of generosity, St. Nicholas? The season of giving will be celebrated in class on Thursday with the annual Silly Sock Exchange. Finally, the class is looking forward to sharing their beautiful offerings of song, speech, and movement at the assembly on Friday. Happy holidays, one and all! See you in 2025!

Warmly,

Ki Michelle
