Fourth & Fifth Grade: March 17-21, 2025
Dear Fourth and Fifth Grade Families,
Last week, students delved deeper into the world of botany, moving from aquatic and rootless plants to the wonders of ferns, seeds, flowers, and trees. They explored how seeds form, how plants spread, and how pollinators like bees and butterflies help flowers reproduce. The students had a hands-on experience as they carefully studied flowers, gently prying them apart to identify their different parts. We also spent time outside on our campus, observing and sketching the local plant life and making connections between our lessons and the natural world around us.
Alongside their botany studies, students completed their animal reports and brought their research to life through beautifully detailed dioramas. Their dedication and creativity truly shone through in these projects!
This week, we will conclude our botany block by exploring forests as living communities, the power of photosynthesis, and how plants shape the world. We will also reflect on our role as stewards of the Earth and how we can help protect and care for plant life.
In math, students have completed their third fractions book and are now moving into the fourth and final book. Their understanding of fractions is strengthening, and they are approaching problems with more confidence and skill.
On Wednesday, before pick-up, families are invited to stop by to view the students’ incredible dioramas. We hope you can join us to celebrate their hard work and creativity!
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to another wonderful week of learning!
