Fourth & Fifth Grade: March 24-28, 2025
Dear Fourth and Fifth Grade Families,
We had a wonderful and enriching week in our classroom, continuing our Botany Block and celebrating the students’ hard work on their animal dioramas and reports!
Our Botany studies took us deep into a tree's life cycle, exploring how trees change through the seasons and how they are connected underground in an incredible network of roots and fungi. The students were amazed to learn how trees communicate and support each other beneath the soil! Students also explored the fascinating process of photosynthesis, discovering how plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create food. They gained a new appreciation for the importance of roots and how they help anchor plants while absorbing essential nutrients.
Another highlight was our study of George Washington Carver, an inspiring scientist whose perseverance and contributions to agriculture helped restore soil health and improve farming practices. His work tied beautifully into our discussions about the importance of caring for the Earth, showing gratitude for nature, and finding ways to protect and support plant life.
Additionally, students completed and presented their animal dioramas and reports. Each diorama was a true masterpiece, filled with careful detail and creativity. The students' presentations were engaging and informative, impressing not only their classmates but also other grades who came to admire their work.
As we transition from Botany, students will begin their final fractions book, diving deeper into mathematical thinking and problem-solving. Alongside this, we will begin preparations for our class play, an exciting and creative journey that will bring storytelling, teamwork, and performance skills to life!
We are looking forward to another engaging and inspiring week. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement! We hope to see many join us this Friday for Grandfriend’s Day from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Please join us in the sanctuary at 11:00 for a Grades presentation followed by light refreshments on the playground.
