Kindergarten Honeybees: April 14 - 18, 2025
Dear Honeybee Families,
We had a fun week returning from break in the Honeybees class. On Monday and Thursday we got in the creek for the first time this year! One of the students described it as "delightfully cold." The children have enjoyed bringing some of our mud kitchen toys to the creek to engage in water play. The students have also found a lot of worms around our outdoor classroom. They have liked making homes for them out of leaves and sticks. We also turned our story about three mole sisters and spring into a play. The children have loved doing this play because it has so many characters and a lot of digging.
This week is Earth Day! To celebrate, we will plant flowers in the pots around our outdoor classroom. We will also make lemonade later in the week. We will use fresh lemons and agave syrup. We are going to start a new story about a robin and a carrot. The robin shares the carrot with their forest friends, and in the end, the carrot is returned to the robin. It's a Chinese folktale about putting good things into the world and getting good things back in return.
I look forward to seeing y'all at the auction on Friday!
Announcements & Reminders for the Honeybees:
Please make sure you are sending your child to school with a change of clothes, especially on creek days (Mondays and Thursdays).
As the weather is warming up, the Honeybees are drinking more water! Please make sure you're sending two water bottles to school with your child.
Weather Preparedness: The weather continues to shift unpredictably. Please send rain gear, and dress your child in layers daily. It is always easier to shed a layer than to warm up after getting too cold.
