Kindergarten Honeybees: March 30 - April 3, 2026

Dear Honeybee Families,

We hope you had a wonderful and relaxing spring break. Welcome back!

In preparation for Grandfriends Day, the children took great pride in tending to our forest environment. With a sense of joy and purpose, they raked the pathways, swept pollen and earth from the benches, organized the mud kitchen, and carefully lined the walkways with pinecones gathered from the forest floor. These meaningful tasks cultivate a sense of responsibility and ownership and care for their classroom and environment.

A heartfelt thank you to all of you for joining us at our Grandfriends Day. It was a truly beautiful gathering, and such a joy to welcome your extended families into our Honeybee classroom. Your presence, along with the thoughtful contributions of delicious treats and lovely flowers, helped create an atmosphere of warmth, generosity, and celebration. We enjoyed meeting the special people in the children’s lives, and offering them a glimpse into the peace and magic of our forest classroom and community.

Returning to school, we were greeted with a small but wondrous sign of the season as our freesia bulbs have begun to emerge from their planters. Each day, the children eagerly observe their steady growth, noticing even the smallest changes. As we near the end of the school year, this theme of growth feels especially alive among us. Just like the flowers, the children have stretched upward and blossomed, not only physically, but inwardly as well, in their confidence, independence, and care for one another.

In  handwork, a new wave of inspiration has blossomed. The children have been joyfully creating small caterpillars and worms, sewing fabric around pipe cleaners and stitching them with care. These sweet creations reflect the life we are beginning to notice in our forest. With the many projects underway, we’ve accumulated quite a collection of fabric scraps. Rather than discarding them, the children have discovered creative ways to transform these remnants into something new. Some have been cutting the fabric into smaller pieces and stringing them together to create vibrant, textured necklaces. Others have begun inventing their own crafts, such as forming small birds by folding fabric and shaping it with pipe cleaners. This kind of open-ended exploration encourages imagination, problem-solving, and a sense of agency in their creative process.

It is a gift to witness the children’s growth, their care for their environment, and their blossoming creativity during this season. Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership, it is what makes this work so meaningful.
