Kindergarten Honeybees: August 17-21, 2026
Dear Honeybee Families,
We had another lovely week in our Honeybee forest. The children are now gleefully joining in during our morning circle, and it is such a delight to hear their giggles during our bee song as we sing, “What do you suppose? A bee landed on my nose!” followed by the bee’s playful reply: “I beg your pardon, I thought you were a garden!” Speaking of gardens, some of the students have been diligently tending to our garden bed and the area around it. Each day, they eagerly wheel over the wheelbarrow to fill it with weeds. We are hoping to plant some fall crops, and the children are already asking when they can use our garden to make stone soup!
Our forest turned into a rainbow this week as the class decorated our stone boundaries with beautiful, colorful chalk. Some students colored individual stones and placed them atop the sandcastles they built, creating lovely little mosaics against the sand. During handwork, the children practiced their fine motor skills and concentration as they used needle and thread to string wooden and glass beads, creating their own colorful and beautiful necklaces. It was a joy to watch their creativity and care shine through.
The Mushroom in the Rain is a sweet story about an ant who finds shelter under a tiny mushroom during a rainstorm. One by one, a butterfly, mouse, sparrow, and rabbit join him, and although it seems there is no room, they make space for one another through kindness, cooperation, and generosity. At the end, they discover the secret: when a mushroom gets wet, it grows! The story offered a beautiful picture of how making room for others can create even more space, reminding us that there is often more abundance than we first imagine.

Conferences are for adults only and are an opportunity to come together to talk about your child’s experiences at school, celebrate their growth, and share any questions, observations, or concerns.
