Second Grade: November 18 - 22

This week we heard the stories of St. Brigid and the King's Wolf, St. Werburga and the Geese, and St. Kevin and the Bird. Each story highlights the ideas of giving and caring for those around us, for both people and the animals. To complement each story, we copied a short poem. We also painted each story using primary colors to make secondary colors. We also used the technique of a clean brush to remove paint from our paintings, which leaves a white space behind for the wolf and the geese who are portrayed in two of the stories.

In morning math, we focused on skip counting by tens from any number under 100, and followed the pattern through 100 or higher.

Our cursive pre-practice continues and the children copied various running forms. We also started working in our Cursive masterbooks, adding in some forms we have practiced the last two weeks.

The Thanksgiving luncheon was a lot of fun! The children enjoyed the picnic aspect of it and the many desserts offered! I hope you all enjoy the break and make many happy memories together this week!

With gratitude,

Melissa
