Second Grade: May 4 - 8

This past week the class completed their last block of second-grade work!  They spent time listening to Anansi the Spider stories, drawing, working on penmanship skills, cursive practice, addition and subtraction by 8, several math strategy games, and a craft.

This coming week we will finish up listening to our class read aloud.  There are two to three chapters offered each day, as well as math activities, and some drawing work to go into our main lesson books.  At the start of the next school year, I will give out our second-grade main lesson books.  In this way, we can start off revisiting the many lessons learned (closure for our second-grade) before moving into our third-grade lessons.  If your child has followed along with the daily home lessons, they can bring their pages to school with them and I will add them into their main lesson books.  The Google Classroom will be available over the summer break.

It is a bittersweet feeling ending the school year and not to be able to celebrate the students' successes with them in person.  They are an amazing group of young people!  I am sure they have grown and matured these past few weeks and will continue to do so over the summer months.  I cannot wait to see them all again! Until then, stay safe and well, and continue to feel the joy in each day!

With gratitude,

Melissa
