Dear Second-Grade Families,
This week, the second grade continued with the language arts block, exploring more Golden Legends. We covered the stories of St. Kevin and St. Patrick of Ireland and of St. Christopher.
We were blessed with warm and dry weather this past week, and were able to spend all our time outdoors. In the afternoons, the temperatures soared into the 70’s. Friday was the first day when the temperatures dropped significantly in the morning. When we return to school after the Thanksgiving break, the morning temperatures will be in the 30’s, and it will warm up much less in the afternoons. In the upcoming months, fleece-lined pants or ski pants are great to keep the children warm in the mornings. Layers, hats, mittens, and gloves can always be taken off when it warms up during the day.
Reminders:
Invitation to Winter Spiral on Thursday, December 2nd 2021 at 1:30 p.m.: Families are invited to watch the second and third grade walk the Winter Spiral in the pine forest behind the dome on Thursday. The Winter Spiral symbolizes the dark time of the year around winter solstice. The children will walk into the spiral with a candle which will be lit in the center of the spiral. As they walk out, they will place their candles onto the spiral to lighten the path and share their light with others.
Kind regards,
Gaby Farrokhi
