Greetings Turtle Families!
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year at The Garden School! We are so excited to see everyone on campus and begin our adventures in the forest. This summer, a brand new kindergarten area was built in the forest, where each class will have its own large covered platform and forest play area. In addition to myself, Ki Kim will be assisting in the Turtle class and we are very excited to have her join our Garden School family this year.
Carpool drop off for kindergarten is from 8:30-8:50 daily at the picnic tables. We ask that families kindly adhere to the drop off window so that all students can be present for our Morning Circle each day. Morning Circle is an exciting and important part of our daily rhythm, where we come together in greeting, song and verse prior to free play. Our circle will begin promptly at 9:00 each morning in the forest. On Mondays and Fridays, students will play immediately following Morning Circle for about an hour. On Wednesdays, we will have Spanish with Ki Maria at 9:15 prior to free play. At 10:00, we will prepare for snack by taking a bathroom break inside the building and returning to our platform (Basecamp) for snack and story. Please make sure to pack a healthy snack consisting mostly of healthy fruits, vegetables and proteins. Please refrain from sending cookies, candies and other sugary treats. After snack time, the children will return to free play. During this time, from 10:30-12:15, we will offer an activity or craft on some days or take time for nature walks, visits to the farm or creek play. Finally, we will return to the picnic tables at 12:30 for carpool pick up.
Please make sure your child is prepared for school each day with the following labeled items:
Two full water bottles
A complete change of clothes, including socks and shoes
Wet Bag or plastic bag for wet and muddy clothes
Hard soled creek shoes
A pair of hard soled indoor shoes to be kept at school (This helps keep our indoor space mud free!)
Bug spray
Rain gear (rain suit or rain pants and a rain jacket)
Sun hat and sunscreen (optional - the forest is shade covered)
Face masks (optional for Kindergarten - it is a good idea to send two in case one gets dirty or wet)
I am so excited to get to know all of your children and meet those from last year once again! I am honored to take part in your child’s growth and development by exploring, creating and imagining right alongside them! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions via my school email:
