Greetings Turtle Families!
What a great week we had! The sun was shining, there was just enough mud, and the children are forming sweet friendships already. On Wednesday, we spent time playing at basecamp with wooden blocks, tic tac toe, and a fun water dropper set. A few students chose to make lovely finger knitted bracelets from our basket of colorful yarn. When they first learn to finger knit, we use only two fingers, looping the yarn around both fingers twice and then taking the bottom row and lifting it up and over the finger, again and again, until a chain forms.
We had our first watercolor painting session on Friday. We will focus on just one color in the beginning, and this week we painted with yellow. The students watched a demonstration of the painting process while hearing a short story about the sun as it wakes the earth each morning. They did such a wonderful job, dipping their brushes in the paint pots and experiencing the watercolor as it met the paper. Their masterpieces will be sent home on Monday :) After painting the students ran into the forest and played group games of hide and seek, tag, and restaurant in the mud kitchen. Packing up for the weekend seemed to come much too quickly! I am looking forward to a fun (full!) week next week with the Turtles!
Reminders:
We will be playing in the creek on Wednesdays.
Please send indoor shoes to school.
Thank you to everyone for timely morning drop-offs. Having all of the children present by 8:50 lends to a wonderfully smooth start to our day!
Kindly,
Ki Amy
