Welcome back, Fourth Grade!
It was so wonderful being together this past week! We had a lovely time reuniting as old friends and welcoming our new friends to our class (and back to our class as well!).
The Rose Ceremony for our rising first grade class was so sweet! The fourth graders enjoyed participating. Our students handed a first grader a rose and escorted them to the bridge as they left kindergarten and entered into our grades program. We have such a beautiful group and amazing community!
We eased into our new school year, spending time playing, working and enjoying our new school supplies. Supply boxes will continue to be added here and there as we go along. The students journalled about their summer fun and their hopes for the coming school year. We also revisited place value and read numbers into the billions!
Next week, we will focus on refreshing our basic math skills through direct instruction and fun games. We will review multi-digit addition, subtraction, and multiplication as well. Mental math skills are developed easiest when practiced regularly at school and at home. Many mornings a week, even when we are in a language block, we will continue practicing and growing our math skills! As always, please email me at Melissa@thegardenmarietta.com whenever needed!
Finally, thank you to Candace Parks (a.k.a. Major’s mom) for being our class representative again this year.
With gratitude,
Melissa
