Dear Joyful Beginnings families,
We had a wonderful week in school!
First of all, thank you for coming to school/Zoom and attending our conferences. I enjoyed talking to all of you and look forward to further assisting the children to develop and thrive. Second, the children looked so cute on picture day! They have grown in the past few months.
Last week, we continued with our Apple Star story. Each time we cut open an apple, the children are able to see the star inside and they are amazed. This week, we will make caramel apples on Wednesday and Thursday. We will teach and help the children to use special cutting utensils to cut apples in small pieces and then they will dip their apples in caramel or honey. Cutting is a great activity to practice fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination.
The children truly enjoy this beautiful weather. Nature provides us with lots of surprises to use as handwork materials. The children used pinecones and leaves to create beautiful decorations. It is magical being outdoors each day in our forest classroom!
Our community festival, the Kingdom of Halloween will be October 29th. This magical event includes a sweet and gentle fairy tale walk through the forest along with craft, food and vendor booths in the field. We ask all our school families to please attend. Children are welcomed to wear costumes; please no masks or marketed characters. If you would like to help out, there are volunteer opportunities posted in our main message. Additional opportunities will arise as we get closer to our festival day!
Upcoming Events and Friendly Reminders:
The weather is cooler, please pack weather appropriate clothes in your child’s backpack. They must have proper clothing available each school day.
Community Workday: October 22nd.
Our next cook day will be on October 19th and 20th. We will make caramel apples in the classroom. Please bring one apple from home by October 18th. We will provide caramel dip (Brand: Marzetti). If your child is allergic to caramel and you have a personal preference, please let us know, we will provide honey as an alternative. Also still pack a little snack for your child to go with the apples.
Kingdom of Halloween will be on Saturday, October 29, from 4:30-8:30.
We will have a late start on Tuesday, November 1st. The school will have a late arrival: Drop off will be 9:45 - 10:00am. If you have any questions, please let us know.
Thank you for sharing your sweet children with us and thank you for your support.
Best,
Ki Siyu and Ki Priti
