Kindergarten Beavers: October 10-14, 2022

Greetings Dear Beaver Families,

Thank you for taking the time to meet with me last week to talk about your precious child. It’s wonderful to get to share our experience with them and watch their development together as they achieve milestones.

Although our school days were shorter this past week, they felt delightfully full! After the stormy night, we had a return of our rippling brook and the children collected its water to form mud puddles and splash into them. A tree on the ground became the perfect balancing beam and the children eagerly took turns balancing across the trunk. We also took our shovel and wagon and collected soil by the creek bed which is very fertile and used it to plant cabbage and kale.

On Friday, the children watched the puppet play for the story they have been listening to over the last two weeks. The students watched the story with wide eyes and bated breath as they watched the apple tree grow, blossom, and produce ripe apples. They watched the star fairy as she flew to the apple tree to hear its plea: oh, how it wished to reach up and touch the stars! The fairy told the apple tree to help her wish come true, she will collect stars for her but it would take time since the stars live so far away. When the star fairy returned she noticed the apple tree was already full of apples, so she hid a star inside each and every apple. We finished the puppet play and shared apple slices, revealing the star shape inside. The children were in awe  to find there was really a star inside each apple!

Our Kingdom of Halloween festival will be held  Saturday, October 29th. This is an incredible, magical community event (bring your friends!). Please also be on the lookout for a message from our class rep to sign up for a volunteer spot.  Our class is responsible for the wet-felted apples and pumpkins craft table.  Your attendance and volunteering capacity at their festival is beyond valuable and necessary for its success.  Thank you!  Additionally, students are invited to come in costume.  Remember, be creative and, please, no masks or marketed characters for this event.
