Kindergarten Turtles: December 12-16, 2022

Greetings Turtle Families,

What a busy and fun week!  Each child worked hard, all week, to put the finishing touches on the project we have been making.  On Wednesday and Thursday, each child wrapped their project in craft paper and helped tie it with a yarn bow. The children are very proud to bring it home to their families. It’s been such a wonderful experience for them and we hope you enjoy their lovely project too.

On Monday, we celebrated Evelyn’s ½ birthday; she will turn 5 in June.  Her mom visited our class and shared fun memories from each year of Evelyn’s life.  Classmates, Teachers, and Evelyn’s Mom shared a wish for the coming year.  Happy ½ Birthday Evelyn!

On Tuesday and Wednesday, we made s’mores!  The class had fun roasting marshmallows to just the right golden color and everyone enjoyed eating the sweet treat. It was very exciting!  These special (and fun) events at school, which only happen now and again, are meaningful and magical for the children.  It’s lovely to watch them enjoy the experience and share their delight with each other.

The end of the Fall Semester also marks the end of our current circle.  This is a favorite rhyme from this circle that your children might like to share with you over the break.

The wind blows the little leaves around

They flitter and flutter down to the ground

Whee-ho-ho

Whee-ho-ho

The wind runs and runs and runs

Whee-ho-ho

Whee-ho-ho

She comes to the oak tree, tall and broad

Sweeps, sweeps, sweeps through the crown

Shakes the branches up and down

up and down

up and down

The acorns fall

Ticka ticka teck

ticka ticka teck

They jump and crack

Pock pock pecka peck

Pock pock pecka peck

Then lie quiet

The whole lot

Very quiet in one spot.

Until… look who’s coming on scampering feet

Looking for nuts and acorns to eat

Whisky, frisky, hoppity hop,

Up he scampers to the treetop.

Whirly twirly, round and round,

Down he scampers to the ground.

Curly furly what a tail!

Tall as a feather,

Broad as a sail.

Where's his supper?

It's in the shell.

Snappity, crackity,

Out it fell.

It has been a wonderful Fall semester in our forest.  We hope you all have a restful break filled with fun, family and lots of love.  Thank you for sharing your children with us.  We look forward to being back together in the new year!

Grace and Peace,

Ki Kim
