Fourth Grade: May 9 - 13

Dear Fourth Grade Families,

The students enjoyed the process, start to finish, for their class play, The Theft of Thor’s Hammer.  From practicing reading the script for all characters, to roles being cast (no easy task there!), to costumes, practices, dress rehearsal for the school, and their performance for their families, it was an amazing experience that we were happy to be able to include once again.  Thank you for all your support for your children throughout the process.  Hooray for fourth grade!  Well done!

This past week, we also had the pleasure of visiting the Etowah Indian Mounds.  The students enjoyed learning about the Muscogee people that once lived there.  Our guide was helpful and knowledgeable, and the class took in all the information offered as he showed us a vast array of weapons and hand tools, as we walked the mounds on the guided tour, and finally, as we spent time in the museum. Our guide complimented our group on decorum, listening politely and asking thoughtful questions (we were with third grade as well, 19 students!).  It is lovely to hear and, I believe, speaks to the fact these students are in an environment that supports their development so well.  It is not one of their only opportunities to be outside for a day, after being pent up in a school day after day.  Lucky them (lucky me! ;)!  Thank you to our class chaperons and to Ki Rachel and Ki Derek for joining us!

Reminders:

  • FIELD DAY is Wednesday, May 18th.  Please send extra clothes and shoes for your child.  They will get WET! (most games involve water and balance)

  • The last day of school is this Friday, May 20th.  It is a FULL day of school.

  • Your child/ren will be bringing home their Main Lesson books this week, and on Friday, they will bring home all their gear for the summer.  Be ready! :)

With gratitude,

Melissa
