Greetings Turtle Families!
This week passed very quickly! Thank you for visiting the forest for our Parent Night on Tuesday. It was delightful to sit down in person and get to talk with each other.
The Turtle class visited the farm on Wednesday. We went inside the gates for the first time. The children were able to pet the goats and even pet one of the chickens. We checked the coop for eggs, and while there were none to be found, we had fun looking! Thursday, the weather permitted a visit to the creek. We went to a new area with a larger, shallow creek bed. The children enjoyed hunting for clam shells and watching tiny fish swim about. We discovered tracks, on the shore, that we think may belong to our resident river otters; that was exciting! We also stopped by the farm again on Thursday, for a short visit, because we had heard there may be an egg to be discovered. We checked the coop and were delighted to indeed find an egg there.
The children continue to work on the handwork projects available on our platform. Their skills are readily improving with practice. In the forest, party planning was a favorite forest activity. In the mud kitchen, muffins, ice cream and lots of other treats were created for the party; then everyone was invited to share in the fun. There were also many “horses” in the forest this past week. They were imagined from large sticks and the children rode joyfully as they ran and jumped around the whole class area. “Whoa, boy!” could be heard throughout the forest. Many children also created bows and arrows and you may have even seen one come home with your child. It is lovely to observe the children get involved in so many creative and imaginative activities and gain confidence and trust in each other as they play.
