First Grade: August 29- September 2

Hello First Grade families,

This week we continued our story of the prince as he makes his journey toward becoming a good king. In one part of our story, we met a Lady that lived in a meadow and was picking flowers. We made a drawing of the Lady with the letter “L.”  The Lady took our prince to her hut to share a meal and tell him a story of “Mother Holly.”  The hut in our story allowed us to introduce the letter “H.”  In this way, the students are able to visit each letter and its corresponding sound(s) in a pictorial and imaginative way that deepens their associations with the phoneme and develops penmanship skills in a fun and enlivening manner.

Next week, we will continue to follow along in the prince’s journey.  We will meet new characters and hear more stories that will continue to help introduce letters and sounds. We will also continue to practice writing our letters.

The students are continuing to progress nicely and it's fun to watch their creativity.  We have a great class and each student is doing well.   A long weekend of fun and rest will have us ready to be together for more adventures in the forest.

Please plan on joining us for Parent Night on Wednesday evening at 6pm! We will discuss our schedule, curriculum, events, and activities.  Apply bug spray, if desired!
