Dear Third Grade Families,
This past week, our class began learning about and working with adjectives (describing words). This was another wonderful lesson as the students continued to build their vocabulary and write in more descriptive forms. They continue to work on journaling every week, implementing the new lessons. We focused on how language can become more beautiful, interesting, and engaging through the use of adjectives to describe nouns (naming words). The students continue to take spelling homework home on Mondays, to be returned on Wednesdays. In addition, the children continue to work on memorizing multiplication facts through songs, stories, and games. Thank you for supporting them in making sure they complete their homework, they return it on time, and for continuing to practice their writing and math at home.
Next week, adverbs will be introduced and that will conclude our Language Arts Grammar block. As the students build their understanding of the types of words used to create beautiful writing, they gain more control over how and why they write. We will revisit all these concepts over the year and in the coming grades as well. Our next block is Time and Money and it should be great fun for all as we explore the value of coins and bills, and work with adding and subtracting values.
It was wonderful seeing you all last week at our conferences. It is an honor for me to spend, lead, and love your children and I am looking forward to continuing to grow together!

The autumn weather is here (finally). Layering clothing is essential for students to be comfortable throughout the day. We will spend every day outside, enjoying this weather, so please help your child dress accordingly!
Please label clothing!
Send two full water bottles and bug spray daily.
