Joyful Beginnings: December 4 - December 8, 2023

Dear Joyful Beginnings Families,

We had a lovely week in Joyful Beginnings. In the chilly mornings, the children did a variety of exercises to warm up. They loved throwing, kicking, and running with balls. By the time we arrived at the forest, the sun had already warmed up the ground so that the children could sit among the leaves and dig in the earth.

In the classroom, we started our new story. Mother Earth called Squirrel Nutkin to let him know that winter was coming. Squirrel Nutkin was busy collecting nuts and acorns. He went up and down the tree until all his cupboards were full of food to get through the cold winter. We have been focusing on nature stories as the children love animals. Nature stories help little ones use their imagination and strengthen their relationship with the world. They start to develop the ability to relate to the characters. Every time we finished story time, the children would say "bye-bye" to the puppets and hope to see them next time. During art time, the class continued to explore colors through watercolor painting. Last week, Mr. Brush needed candles to light up the dark nights, so the children used yellow to create lights for him. Moving the paintbrushes back and forth on the paper and watching the color spread brings peace to everyone. On Thursday, we celebrated Red’s birthday. We were so glad his parents could join us on this special day, and we were thankful for the delicious treat.

This week, we will sing all of our favorite songs we have learned so far this semester and continue to learn the new circle song. The children will use finger paint to create pictures and express their creativity. We are going to visit our farm animals once more before the winter break.
