Kindergarten Beavers: February 6-10, 2023

Greetings Dear Beaver Families,

We had a lovely past week with warm, spring-like weather. The children enjoyed watching the fifth graders put on a puppet play about the Chinese New Year. There was much laughter, especially at the animal sounds made by each animal in the zodiac. The children delighted in the origami rabbit gifts the third, fourth, and fifth graders handcrafted for them. In our own classroom, students made wet felted hearts with colorful sparkles of their choice. We strung together felted flowers, leaves, stars, and moons to add to our platform mobile. We took a nature walk around the forest, collecting pine cones which we plan to turn into a project for our special feathered friends. Speaking of feathered friends, our Hawk visitor from last semester visited us again during lunch and brought her own lunch with her too. The children marveled at the sight and how close it came to us! We visited the animals at the farm, admired the beautiful daffodils growing in pockets around our campus, and discovered a large hut with tunnels and rooms built by some of the grade students. The children promptly crawled through the pathways and inspected each of the rooms.

The children continue to work on their tree house. Together, students successfully sawed off a piece of the wooden board.  There is only one more side to saw off. Once that is nailed in place, the foundation of the tree house will be complete. They are working hard on this project!

I look forward to meeting with each of you at our parent-teacher conferences this week.
