Osiyo, River Otter families.
We got our first taste of spring in the forest. Students were happily building new forts, and we added a couple of new items to our forest classroom this week. Some students helped to build a balance beam for the class to practice walking on. This became a popular activity this week! Another student planned out and helped build an obstacle course on games day. For the course, students had to climb over a large stump, navigate through the large holes they have dug in our digging area, run around a shovel standing in the ground, climb the stairs and slide down the slide, and finally get through the jump rope the teacher was swinging without it touching them. The class had so much fun with the obstacle course, many of them ran it over and over for half an hour or more!
On Wednesday, our class had a special treat. We had the opportunity to watch a puppet play put on by our amazing fifth graders. The older students made their own beautiful animal puppets and scenery, and acted out a Lunar New Year story entirely in Mandarin. Our class really enjoyed the show, and laughed appropriately in all the right places. Thank you fifth grade students, Ki Cerina, Ki Ieva, and Ki Melissa for the incredible and fun show!
