Kindergarten Turtles: February 6-10, 2023

 Greetings Turtle Families,

We had a busy week in the forest.  The beginning of the week was (finally) dry and our class area had time to dry out a little.  The afternoons were warm and beautiful!  We are all enjoying the spring-like weather.  In the forest, the children were busy being “families” – otter families, bird families and lots of other animal families; always with lots of babies.  Many different homes, dens and nests were built for these families to live in.  Many times the entire class was playing together as they worked to build their homes and take care of the babies.  We also played games with bean bags and a ball.  The children enjoy throwing and catching.  The Golden Knights are continuing to enjoy their time in their special class in their additional class  area.  It is fun for them to come back and teach us some of the games they learn there.

On our platform, the children have been working on a variety of Valentine handwork projects.  They can choose from what is available and make several if desired.  The students will bring their creations home for Valentine’s Day .

On Wednesday, we were invited to watch a puppet play, performed by the 5th graders, in Mandarin.  The 5th grade students made puppets to represent each animal in the zodiac and then performed a play about the Chinese New Year in Mandarin! Our class watched with rapt attention and enjoyed laughter as each animal puppet made its animal noise.  It is always so nice for our students to get to spend time with the older students and they all enjoyed the play.  They were each gifted an origami rabbit by the 5th graders. 2023 is the year of the Water Rabbit.
