Kindergarten Turtles: February 13 - 17

Greetings Turtle Families,

It was so nice to meet with you all for conferences.  It is such a pleasure to spend our days with your children in our beautiful forest classroom; it was wonderful to share with you all that they are doing and learning at school.

We celebrated Valentine’s Day and our class was all about love and hearts.  The children brought home the crafts they had been working on and made many more.  We folded and cut paper hearts; the children were thrilled to open the paper and see the beautiful, symmetrical heart they cut out, all on their own.

Our story was about a man named Papa Giorgio, who, while watching the sunrise on Valentine’s Day, had a wonderful idea - He would make Valentine's gifts for the birds.  He gathered all of his supplies and created pinecone bird feeders with loving care and hung them in his yard.  Many birds flew into his yard to enjoy this Valentine’s gift, even a few goldfinches – his favorite bird of all.  Later, when he went back outside, he found feathers from all of the different birds, including a few goldfinch feathers, gathered into the shape of a heart.  The birds had left a Valentine's gift for him💗.   The children loved the story and really loved making their own pinecone bird feeder gifts for the birds of our forest.  It was fun for us to watch, during snack and lunch, as the birds enjoyed their gifts. Perhaps we will get a few goldfinch visitors too!

On Monday, we celebrated Esther’s 5th birthday.  Her parents and little sister, Cora, visited our class and shared fun memories from each year of Esther’s life.  Classmates, teachers, and her parents shared a wish for the coming year.  Happy Birthday, Esther!
