Hello First Grade Families!
Last week we read our story about a brave sister finding and saving her seven brothers that had turned into ravens by an evil spell. We also read about a wise and generous hare that helped those in need and helped the people around him learn to be good. In fact, the hare went so far in good deeds that he gave himself to a beggar. The beggar ended up being a star from above sent to ensure that the hare was true. When the beggar revealed himself, he told the hare that one day the hare could join the star in the sky with all the other stars. Reading, writing, and spelling lessons are brought to the students through tales such as these.
Next week we will read more stories together that expose the class to new words to sight read and to sound out phonetically. The stories build a child’s imagination and are a good way to keep them engaged while introducing them to new words and letter sounds.
This week we had a visiting student, which was a nice addition to our regular activities. It was also good to see how welcoming the first-grade class was to them and how the students warmed to each other, playing inclusively.
Thank you to all of our families who joined us this past Saturday for our All School meeting. Coming together as a community to support our lovely school is what keeps us strong and helps us grow.
