Hello First Grade Families:

This Friday is our annual fundraiser! We are so excited and we hope to see you all (adults only, please). Thank you for your participation in our class auction project and thank you for your continuous support of our school!

Last week we started our final language block for first grade. We used lines in our play to help us with spelling and reading. This task also helped with memorizing lines. As an extra fun way to review and learn material, we built a life size board game and had a great time playing together. The students once again showed their creativity in forming the rules of play.

This week we are continuing the language block and are our work on our play. We started adding some movements to go along with the story. We also used beeswax to help build a model of our play. The model helped the students to visualize the story and become more connected to the play.

It is so interesting and exciting to see how creative the students can be with the different projects and how they are always learning, growing and maturing. Even though we have moved from a math block to another language block, we still include math activities throughout the week. Please remember the importance of practicing and reinforcing math facts at home. Anything your student can practice at home is helpful!

Reminders:

Now that the weather is warming, please equip your child with sun hats, insect repellent, 2 filled water bottles and water shoes. Creekcess will begin soon and students may only go in the water if they have hard-soled, closed-toed shoes for the creek.
