Hello, First Grade Families:
Thank you, to my First Grade families, for the thoughtful gifts of all the camping goodies. They will get plenty of use for a long time.
The first grade class really enjoyed field day which was a lot of fun getting wet, laughing, and playing steadily through the morning. It was a great way for each of the students to enjoy each other. We also had our last trip to the farm as first graders. In addition to the fun activities, we spent time reviewing as much as we could. Our review included math facts, the four math processes, reading, and writing. We kept busy but enjoyed our last week together.
It is so hard to believe that our class is no longer First Grade! This summer, please have your child practice the big 100 sight words. They can make flashcards of the words, review pre-made flashcards, or practice writing and reading a few words a day with you. I will follow up with an email including a pdf of these words and some additional fun summer ideas for reviewing the words. Please also have your child practice addition and subtraction math facts with numbers 1-20 throughout the summer. Math review is made fun when using dice or playing cards and helps the children retain and solidify their learning during break.
Have a great summer and it will be great to see everyone back as second graders this August.
