Kindergarten Chicakdees: October 1 - 4, 2024

Osiyo, Chickadee Families,

It was a beautiful week in the forest last week. On Thursday, the Chickadees were able to enjoy their new sandbox for the first time!  Thank you to the Middle School class, family volunteers, and Ki Derek for building and filling the sandbox. Students also spent a lot of time using shovels, dump trucks, and wood pieces as they worked hard exploring and creating.

The class has been observing and discussing the changes fall brings, including cooler weather and colorful leaves that fall from the trees. On Thursday, students colored paper leaves with the colors of autumn (red, orange, yellow, and brown). This activity was exciting for the students, as our current circle is about fall and an apple orchard. One of our new songs is about the colors of autumn and the falling leaves. The students are learning this song and the names of the fall colors in both Spanish and English. Many children have already learned several words in Spanish from the song, and they enjoy singing it in both languages throughout the day as they play.

Announcements and Reminders for Chickadee Kindergarten:

  • Conferences are THIS Thursday and Friday, October 10th and 11th. If you have not signed up, please do so now here. Please contact me if you have questions or do not see a time that works for you. If you cannot meet this week, please let me know so we can schedule a time when you are available.

  • Next Thursday we will have a special apple snack and activity instead of fruit kabobs; you do not need to send fruit to school next week.

  • Please utilize the carpool line (in front of the picnic tables) for both full and half-day drop off and pick up.  A staff member will help your child from the car to the picnic table in the morning and from the table to your car in the afternoon.

  • Please sign up to help at Kingdom of Halloween. I look forward to working with you all there.

Thank you for sharing your children with us and for being part of our community.

Gvyalieliga,
