Kindergarten Turtles: February 05 - 09, 2024

Greeting Turtle Families,

It was so nice to meet with you all for conferences.  It is such a pleasure to spend our days with your children in our beautiful forest classroom. It was wonderful to share with you what they are doing and learning at school.

Our recent story was about a man named Papa Giorgio, who, while watching the sunrise on Valentine’s Day, had a wonderful idea - he would make Valentine's gifts for the birds.  He gathered his supplies, created pinecone bird feeders with loving care, and hung them in his yard.  Many birds flew into his yard to enjoy this Valentine’s gift, even a few goldfinches – his favorite bird of all.  Later, when he went back outside, he found feathers from all the different birds, including a few goldfinch feathers, gathered into the shape of a heart.  The birds had left a Valentine's gift for him💗.   This week, we will have a puppet show and a class play of the story.  We will also make our own pinecone bird feeder gifts for the birds of our forest.

On Wednesday, we were invited to watch performances by the grade’s students in Mandarin.  The grade students worked very hard to prepare a show for us about the Chinese New Year. Our class watched with rapt attention and enjoyed a puppet show, a play, and some singing and dancing.  It is always so nice for our students to spend time with the older students; they all enjoyed the performance.
